As part of our commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming campus environment, every three years Duke invites all members of our community to participate in the Campus Culture Survey, an ongoing effort across the university to better understand and respond to the experiences of our students, faculty and staff.
The Campus Culture Survey is a living document that reflects the experiences, perspectives, and needs of Duke’s diverse, multi-faceted community and allows us to directly respond to invaluable feedback. Since first launching the survey in 2021, we have seen improvement in the overall satisfaction of students, faculty and staff on campus; however the work of creating an inclusive and welcoming campus environment for all must be a constant, ongoing effort. We are proud of the work we have done so far and remain committed to identifying and tackling new challenges, and our institution continues to grow and change.
The Council will identify and share the needs of our multi-faceted community through analysis and reporting of the Campus Experience survey data.

Following the campus culture surveys in 2021 and 2024, the next survey is slated for 2027.
Campus Experience and Culture Advisory Council (CECAC)
As we look ahead and continue to evolve our approach to supporting a vibrant campus culture, our new Campus Experience and Culture Advisory Council (CECAC), comprising leaders across Duke that represent a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, will facilitate this process. CECAC will be responsible for disseminating and reviewing the survey results to identify trends and themes, understand where our community has indicated the need for improvement, and recommend additional programs, polices, and strategies to ensure every person at Duke has the support they need to thrive in their academic and professional pursuits.
CECAC’s mission is to ensure Duke’s campus culture strategy considers and represents the experiences and perspectives of all members of our community. Guided by the data gleaned from the survey and consistent with Duke’s Inclusive Excellence Principles, the Council and its subcommittees will support units and schools across Duke in understanding and leveraging this information and implementing new programs and policies that respond to feedback from our community.
